Our Off the Cuff platform uncovers emerging talent in the music industry through a series of short interviews with our KOMI users. This provides our broader community with the opportunity to discover our favorite artists and hear about their latest projects before the rest of the world.

In a recent interview, we had the pleasure of chatting with the fantastic Bianca Oblivion. No stranger to the sounds of Los Angeles, Bianca, a native of the city, soaked in the lively sounds from car stereos, backyard BBQs, and parties during her upbringing. Her dance training fueled her love for music, while her years hosting college radio and organizing DIY events added a unique underground edge to her style. In her young adult years, Bianca immersed herself in the west coast club scene during the electro and house era, marking the start of her DJ career. Those influences echo in her sets and productions, blending sounds across the house, club, and bass spectrum.

Bianca serves as a bridge in the global club underground, connecting U.S. and U.K. bass music, baile funk, reggaeton, grime, and more. Actively involved in the L.A. underground, she continues her work to create inclusive spaces for femme/non-binary, queer, and POC artists, contributing to crews like Cu Los Angeles, Club Aerobics, and now Warp Mode.

What are you up to at the moment?

“I've got some very exciting collaborations coming out next year as well as a remix EP of my track 'Nice' with [someone] on Hell, which will be out in February. We'll be going on a co-headline tour to promote that. And I'm also planning another tour in Europe in January and a debut tour in Australia and New Zealand for the spring.”

Can you tell us about your new track?

“I just released a new EP with Sam Binga, 'Sweat Box Party,' and we're in the middle of a B2B mini-tour with our last dates in Detroit and L.A. This weekend, I've got some more shows coming up in Chicago, Vancouver, and Calgary, which are all up on my KOMI.”

What inspired your EP?

“I just returned from a week in Brazil where I met some incredible DJs, producers, and MCs. I've always been inspired by Brazilian music, but actually being there really took it to a whole new level.”

What's your flavor of the month?

“So I've always loved tropical fruits. But while I was in Brazil, I was exposed to a whole new world of fruits that you can't get in the States. So now it's my mission to learn about and try as many as I possibly can. The next time I'm down there, one of my favorites was cupuacu, which they serve frozen with Acai and it is absolutely delicious.”
